Groomed today with all trails groomed to typical spring standards. Tracks were set in all the usual places and all skate lanes were also groomed. At present skiing is great but the temps and sun will have its effects.

Grooming for this weekend 3-28

With just a little new snow, the least amount of grooming will be the skate lanes and I will do that either late tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning. If the snow accumulates with any depth I'll set new tracks. At present there is enough snow in the old tracks to allow traction.

Sunday March 23 grooming

Sunday morning brought on no new snow at Mt Haggin so the skate lane on Crooked John was resurfaced along with the descent down Death's Dip out Sleepy Hollow. Be Careful skiing as it is spring time glazed.

Off- Piste or Crust Cruising

I'm back.  I have to ask, what are conditions off the pack?  I spent the day here digging trenches around my house in prep for the flood that will come with real spring.  Everywhere I walked around here that was out in the sun, I left about a 3/4" impression in the crust.  I have to believe that at Mt. Haggin, it would be a ball for both skaters and classic skiers.  Places like  the upper part of the Crooked John, Li'l Cal, and California Creek are full of open bottom and slopes that are like a huge groomed park. The same goes for all the open  in the space between CJ, Wulf's Cutoff, and the common.  The same goes for the newly logged territory.

I'm working on Bonnie to go try it out.

Grooming report 3-21

Went up late this afternoon hoping that the snow would loosen up enough to do some grooming. All of the skate areas on Crooked John and Sugar loaf was scarified with the ginzu. Skating tomorrow should be great. Resetting tracks would have been extremely difficult so all the set tracks were left alone. Little Cal was ginzu groomed from Deaths dip out to Crooked John. Sleepy hollow was also groomed. The tracks are in good structural condition but icy. When I was leaving at 6:30 PM. it looked as though there could be some snow tonight and even as little as an inch would make the track skiing real good as it would take care of the glaze.

There in spirit

I'll be there in spirit, if not in person.  I'm stuck down here between the Mormons and the sinners.  Tomorrow we're off to Mesquite for a seafood buffet at the Casablanca (and a booze run) and then back to the bikes.  I've got Bonnie grinning on single track!  Not bad for a couple of old f@rt$!  Ed Amberg's picture of the gauge tells it all - you've had your baptism of fire.  I know I never saw the gauge hit 4 feet!

 You guys are amazing!

Grooming Saturday

I can be there Saturday at 8. Ray

Saturday Morning...

I am not sure yet of my availablility, I might have a scout meeting in Bozeman.  Gus
I would be up for grooming Saturday morning March 8th starting at 8, maybe earlier but I have two dogs to deal with here before heading to the ski hill.  If everything worked out well here I could probably get there earlier.  Paul

Mt Haggin grooming

The finished track and skate lanes lasted one day. Another snowfall left 4 to 6 inches of very wet snow. Too warm to manage today but the low is predicted for tonight to be 24 and 16 for Friday night. Any thoughts on when. Both days highs are out of the grooming temp range so an early start will be in order. Any opinions?

Mt Haggin Grooming

Another 4 to 6 inches of wet heavy snow fell last night and today. Too warm to do anything with it today. Tonight's low is predicted to be 24 and Friday nights is 16. Warm days both days. Do we groom tomorrow or Saturday morning? Should start early in both cases.
