Thursday night grooming report 12/29

Todd and I were able to groom Crooked John, Wulff's, & Cheff's cutoff & made double passes on some to clean up messes from getting stuck! We focused on packing the trail edges where it is soft & causing lots of problems for the grooming crews. The trails look pretty good now & the soft edges should be firmed up now in most spots - I can't speak for trails beside CJ & around the cabin though.

Crooked John groomed including wulfs & chefs cutoffs - 15 below when we left, 21 above at anaconda hiway junction 15 minutes later- & back to 0 in Butte ! Crazy!

John, Paul and Gus are planning to groom on Tuesday at 10am.  John and Paul checked area on Friday and it was to dangerous to try and groom.  Lots of new snow , maybe 18 inches, over the last few days and wind, bitter cold, and parking lot hadn't been plowed so we bagged it.  Paul checked the highway and parking lot on Saturday and everything looked good except 11 below temperatures.  So unless things change we should have most of the trails machine packed on Tuesday 12/20.  

Grooming

Hi all,  I just read the emails about the snow machine move and moving equipment out of the sheds. I appreciate the effort and dedication you guys do/have to keep the ski trails groomed. I am not going to groom again this year. I'll make and install new trail signs - let me know. Ray

My sister suggested Sugar Mountain area… What a fabulous area! Such great trails and that hut is grand! We thought nowhere could be as nice as King Hill near Showdown – You have done a great job! We had another 2 to 3 inches of snow at the house today but temperatures stayed warm.  I think grooming is over for the year.  Conditions do not look good for the future.  Paul

I'm up for grooming Friday morning, 3/25.  We had about 2 inches of snow here at the house and temperature is  close to 32 degrees at 5 pm .  We should start at 8;30.  Paul

Dave good choice.  Temperature was 45 when I came over the pass at noon today, Thursday.  Grooming would not have worked.  It's staying warm this evening at about 40 here at our house.  Paul

I'm not sure who can groom this Friday, March 4th, but I am tied up and can NOT groom.  We've had a little more snow this week so grooming should be good.  Paul

Temp was 26 upon arrival, maybe an inch of new snow - fast conditions- We groomed Crooked John with the Ginzu's - 20 degrees & clear starry night sky when we left

Todd & I groomed the usual with the ginzu's - some fresh powdery snow, some hardpack - but it loosened up nicely ! About 6 degrees when we left at 10:30pm. We thought about grooming with the metal skeds, but they were too buried to mess with

I assume we will be grooming trails this Friday, Feb. 26th.  Start time 9 am or earlier?  Snow seems to be holding up well at our house with new snow from a few days ago still powdery.  Paul
